Meet our INSTRUCTORS

We have an amazing team of talented and skilled insturctors to pour into the WAC students that will result in a greater understanding and increased ability in their area of focus.

Pastor Tom Sterbens

Tom Sterbens, who serves as the Lead Pastor of New Hope Church is a gifted communicator, singer, songwriter and musician who speaks, sings and teaches across the nation.. PT’s teaching, singing and songwriting is forthright, fresh, and focused…communicated with conviction that each and every encounter with God’s Word has the power to change our lives!

In his own words, “The goal of every teaching and singing opportunity is to facilitate a life of worship at every dimension of our humanity…to provoke our minds, encourage our hearts, empower our lives and release the destiny God has in each of us!” He is convinced that worship and the word alone hold the keys to the high purpose and ultimate calling for every human being.

Rhea Marshall

Rhea Marshall earned both a Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance as well as a Master of Arts in church music with an emphasis in conducting from Lee University. For over twenty years Rhea has worked in both education and ministry. While pastoring in three states she has had a voice studio, schools of worship, arts camps, and school choirs in the private school she founded and directed. Rhea is most passionate about pursuing the presence of The Lord. She is first and foremost a daughter of God, and invites everyone she can to join her in a pursuit of His presence.

Candace Bendever

I have been singing and dancing for as long as I can remember and teaching dance for over 20 years. While I love dance, my passion is using it as tool to help students discover who they are, what they are capable of, and the gifts they do not even know they have in them. This year, like the other years I have had the joy of serving in, I hope to see lives changed. I want to see students leave with a new understanding of God's call on their life. That by saying "yes" they step into all that God has planned for them.

Ben May

Along with his wife, Ben and Kara May are the Next Gen Pastors here at New Hope Church. Being raised in the church and spending his summers doing camps, retreats, and fine art competitions, he believes passionately about investing in the next generation and equipping the saints for works of ministry so the body of Christ may be built up!

Kara May

My husband, Ben and I are on staff at New Hope as the Next Gen pastors. I have been working with youth students for over 10 years and it is my passion. Starting off in church productions, I have been involved in drama for most of my life. I have taught drama at New Hope's Worship and Arts camp for several years. I am very excited to return this year and not only teach students about drama but I believe in the equipping of students to use their voice for Christ and become confident in who He says they are.

Dan Cutshall

Dan has served as worship and media pastor at various churches for over 22 years. His passion is to see people encounter the presence of God not only through music, but through technical arts. Dan has played keys since the age of 8. His heart is to pour into this next generation of worshippers. He has a beautiful wife Sabra, two amazing kids named Tristan and Tavia and lots of animals.

Courtney Eckenrode

I have been assisting Pastor Candace in dance since the start of Worship Arts Camp in 2009. I have a unique experience with Worship Arts Camp in that I started out as a student and now have the privilege of being one of the leaders. My heart for camp is to help students seek God with everything they have and to understand their purpose, gifts, and callings. These camps began to spark these things in my own life, and I am so honored to be a part of this in the lives of others. I am excited to see how God moves through every part of camp!

Chelsea Eckenrode

I am a Visual Art teacher for K-12 grade. I have been teaching Creative Arts at WAC since 2014. It is where I found my purpose in Jesus Christ through camp and the mentors there who prayed for me and helped cultivate the gifts and anointing God placed on my life. My prayer for students this year is that you walk in a place where we will lift you up and partner with you in ministry and the unique plan and purpose God has on your life. I believe Worship Arts Camp 2022 will be the place where you say YES to what God has in store for you!

Megan Elder

My name is Megan, I have been assisting Pastor Candace in dance for since 2016. I had the opportunity to be mentored by her and other amazing people over the years from being apart of WAC. Now, I assist her in teaching dance and teaching students to pursue God in everything they do. Arts Camp is a place where you will be encouraged, discipled and learn that worship can be expressed is so many different ways.
